Phase 2 Recap As we start the new year, there is a lot of information to share about the input received during Phase 2!
Growing Better Places A fun and engaging way to plan for the future, Growing Better Places allowed the community to define and implement growth strategies for Charlotte over the next 20 years. Over 840 people played the game in person, and over 990 played the online version – over 1,800 combined! More information about Growing Better Placesand all submitted photos from game play events can be found on our website.

Community Engagement Summary The 2040 Comprehensive Plan team held pop-up meetings and hosted three workshops, and surveys were collected to better understand how Charlotteans want to see their city grow. Four concepts for how and where the city can grow were presented and residents had the opportunity to weigh-in on the trade-offs associated with each one, along with the Performance Measures. Connected Corridors and Neighborhood Nodes were shown to be the public favorites.
Download the Phase 2 Community Engagement Summary for more information about the data collected and the results of the feedback received during Phase 2.

Phase 3 Kickoff A policy framework and preferred growth scenario will de developed during the course of Phase 3 using the input received on vision and values and growth scenarios during the first two phases of the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan process. During this phase we will work with Strategic Advisors to develop and refine policies, and we will be out in the community to get your feedback too. Check back soon for more updates along with meeting times and locations!

City of Charlotte, strives to make all its products and services, including this web database application, accessible to all users. Compliance with access standards is tested using the Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE) powered by the WebAIM organization at the Center for Persons with Disabilities, Utah State University. Additionally, our pages have been tested using large font settings on common web browsers and with Freedom Scientific’s JAWSR Screen Reader to ensure that the content is accessible with these assistive technologies.

This website may include some content available in PDF format, for which you will need to download the free Adobe PDF Reader.

At this time, we are actively working to be compliant with all current accessibility standards, including Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Although we continue to test and modify our Web applications for accessibility, there will undoubtedly be times when new or existing pages are not fully compliant with evolving standards.
