Fill existing gaps in infrastructure and amenities that could complete several of Charlotte’s neighborhoods
Ensure that new development results in benefits for existing and new residents and that neighborhoods align with the community vision and goals expressed throughout Phase 1 of the Comprehensive Plan process
Allocate the projected number of housing units and jobs for Charlotte in 2040
Ensure that the path to creating complete neighborhoods for all Charlotteans is equitable, economically viable and fiscally responsible
Encourage community member discussion about growth and trade-offs
Have fun! There are no right or wrong answers or ways to play the game, so have fun and enjoy a lively discussion with your group.

Results & Data
Over 1,800 people played Growing Better Places during July and August 2019. The results of each game were combined to make three growth scenarios to show how Charlotte could grow that were shown at the October 2019 workshops.

ACCESSIBILITY

City of Charlotte, strives to make all its products and services, including this web database application, accessible to all users. Compliance with access standards is tested using the Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE) powered by the WebAIM organization at the Center for Persons with Disabilities, Utah State University. Additionally, our pages have been tested using large font settings on common web browsers and with Freedom Scientific’s JAWSR Screen Reader to ensure that the content is accessible with these assistive technologies.

This website may include some content available in PDF format, for which you will need to download the free Adobe PDF Reader.

At this time, we are actively working to be compliant with all current accessibility standards, including Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Although we continue to test and modify our Web applications for accessibility, there will undoubtedly be times when new or existing pages are not fully compliant with evolving standards.
